Butter, Milk, Cheese, Beef - Looking Good

Three decades or more of Cholesterolmania. Of misinformation by National Heart Foundations, abetted by National Health & Medical Research Council in Australia and like organisations throughout the western world.

TRUTH WILL NOT BE DENIED

It is the writer’s opinion that the greatest fraud ever perpetrated on our society is fast coming to an end. That is that dietary cholesterol causes coronary artery disease and death. That those foods, milk, butter, cheese, eggs and meat, in particular beef, will cause atherosclerosis. The tide began to turn only about ten years ago when, suddenly, the National Heart Foundation (NHF) without apologies, stopped promoting polyunsaturated oils and began, albeit for a very short time, to promote olive oil as the saviour. Then that too, changed to Canola oil.

Polyunsaturated oils  and Margarines (partially hydrogenated) cause cancer

Margarines are chosen here because obviously they are the most consumed.

Partial hyrogenation of margarines and oils forms trans-fatty-acids. These are the killers. Examine the facts:

Cardiovascular System:Margarine lowers HDL Cholesterol and raises LDL Cholesterol. This means that a high intake of margarine significantly increases the risk of heart disease and heart attack through the detrimental influence of  Trans-Fatty Acids.
The risk compared to low consumption is doubled.

Excessive consumption of margarine can contribute to and can cause certain forms of cancer including lung cancer, breast cancer and skin cancer. Margarine also contains another insidious killer, "Cadmium". Margarine contains 0.2 mg of Cadmium per kg.

It is beyond the scope of this paper to cover more than a small fraction of this subject. Suffice to say that cancer per se, especially breast cancer, is escalating out of control, especially over the past twenty years. BTW, those eggs the NHF said will kill you, are now totally endorsed by the NHF but no mention of ‘free range’ is made. Consumption of non-free range eggs or non-omega-3 eggs may lead to a build up of Arachidonic Acid and consequent inflammation in any body tissue.

The good stuff!       CONJUGATED LINOLEIC ACID (CLA)

CLA helps to prevent atherosclerosis and lowers triglyceride levels.

CLA potently inhibits the development of some forms of Cancer including inhibition of the development of breast cancer and the prevention of colon cancer and melanoma.

It has been conclusively demonstrated that CLA possesses potent antioxidant properties   that may be 200% greater than those of beta-carotene (provitamin A).

Research also shows that CLA significantly lowers LDL Cholesterol levels and in doses of   approximately 3,300 mg per day facilitates weight loss in persons afflicted with obesity and at the same time protects the integrity of muscle and facilitates muscle growth.

WHERE DYA GETIT

Milk, cheese, beef including veal, lamb, and to a lesser degree chicken and turkey. Highest known source is Kangaroo meat.

However, you do not race out and begin quaffing gallons of milk or eating tonnes of beef etc. As with all things, moderation is the name of the game. If you include a daily glass or two of milk (not low fat) some beef and lamb in your Zone diet. Use butter sparingly, then you will be reverting closer to the original paleolithic diets of our prehistoric ancestors. Natural foods get our tick of approval.

BTW visit the National Heart Foundation web-site and look for one of their major sponsors, especially for the school lunch programs. Or we can save you the time and tell you it is Kellogg's where almost every 100grams get you 30% sugar.

9 out of ten nutritionists recommend wheat bix for breakfast. I say that 70% of the population may not tolerate them!  And 100g of whole wheat is proven to take 350mg of calcium from the system. See Osteoporosis
